Publishing Your Work

Share your writing with readers.

Your writing reaches readers through a Journey. There's no separate "publish" step for a block: you share it by adding it to a Reading activity and publishing that activity in your journey.

Making your project visible

A new project is a Draft, and only you can see it. It becomes Active, visible to other people, when you open its first journey. You can also choose Activate Project on the project's page.

An active project shows up for readers on their Home page, with its description, cover and the details you chose to help readers find it.

Sharing blocks

  1. On your project's page, choose Create Journey. See Creating a Journey.
  2. In the journey, choose Add Activity, pick Reading, and add the blocks you want to share, in order.
  3. Choose Publish Activities. Participants get a notification, and can read the blocks.

You decide how much to share and when. You can publish a chapter at a time as you write it, or share a finished story in parts. See Planning Activities.

What readers see

Readers see the block's title and text, in their own reading settings. They don't see your notes, references, history or editor formatting.

As they read, they can highlight passages and comment on them, and you can see their highlights. See Managing Participants.

Changing work that's been shared

Readers always see the latest version of a block. If you edit a block that's in a published reading, participants see your changes the next time they open it.

That makes it easy to fix a typo. For bigger rewrites, consider writing the new version in a new block and sharing it in a later activity, so readers don't find the story changing under them.
