A Project holds your story: its details, its cover art, and the blocks you write it in. To start one, go to Projects and choose + Project. Create New Project takes you through five short steps.
1. Title
Your Title is what readers call your project, often the book's title. The Short Title is the version that appears in your project's web address. It's filled in from the title, and you can change it. It has to be different from your other projects' short titles.
2. Description
The Description is the back-cover blurb: around 100 to 200 words that make a reader want to know more. It's the first thing most readers see.
The Long Description is optional. Use it for more about the project, your inspiration, or anything else you'd like readers to know.
3. Cover art
Most readers see your cover before anything else. You can skip this step and add a cover later.
4. Language
Choose the project's Project Language, so it reaches readers of that language.
5. Help readers find it
These details show on your project's page and help readers decide whether it's for them:
- its Genres;
- its Intended Audience;
- its Potential Triggers: themes some readers would rather know about first;
- its Violence Level and Romance Level.
Take care with the last three. They're how readers avoid content they don't want, so be honest about what's in the story.
After you create it
Choose Create Project. Your project starts as a Draft: only you can see it, so you can write as much as you like before anyone else reads it.
If you leave before finishing, the form keeps your answers. Next time it offers to Restore them.
Next, start writing. See Writing and Editing.
