A guide leads a Journey: a group of readers going through one of your projects together. You open it, choose who joins, and share the story as activities, at a pace that suits you and your readers.
1. Create a journey
On your project's page, choose Create Journey. Give it a Journey Name, a Capacity (how many readers you'd like), a Reading Pace so readers know how often to expect new content, and a Journey Notes with anything participants should know.
The journey starts as a Draft. Only you can see it, and you can change all of it.
2. Open it to readers
Choose Open Journey. It's now Open: readers can find it in Explore and on your project's page, and ask to join. Each request comes to you to Approve or decline. Opening your first journey also makes your project Active, so readers can see it.
3. Add activities
Choose Add Activity to plan what readers will do:
- Reading: a part of your story to read, highlight and comment on;
- Survey: a few short questions;
- Discussion: a question for the group to talk about;
- Instructions: a note about how the journey works or what's next.
New activities stay with you until you choose Publish Activities. Then participants get a notification. See Planning Activities.
4. Begin the journey
When at least one participant has joined and you've created at least one activity, choose Begin Journey Now. The journey is now Active, and your participants are notified.
5. Keep it going
Publish new activities as your story grows, and see how readers respond: who has completed each activity, their highlights in the text, their survey answers and their discussion responses. When the story is done, choose End Journey. Readers reach The End and can look back on their journey.
You don't have to finish the story first. If life gets in the way, the Fictional Crowd app has End Journey Early, which asks you for a reason.
