Participants, on the journey's page, lists everyone who has joined or asked to join, with you at the top as Guide.
Approving requests
Every request to join comes to you, while the journey is Open. Requests show in the list as Pending.
- Approve adds the reader to the journey, and they get a notification.
- Reject declines the request. The reader can ask again later.
A journey's Capacity is a goal, not a limit, so you can approve more readers than you planned for.
Removing a participant
Choose Remove next to an active participant to take them out of the journey. They can no longer see its activities or get its notifications.
Where participants stand
Each participant has a status:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Active | In the journey: sees its activities and gets its notifications. |
| Paused | Paused the journey for themselves: still a member, but not notified. |
| Finished | Reached the end of the journey's activities. |
| Left | Left the journey. |
| Removed | Removed by the guide, or because of a block. |
Participants pause and leave from the Fictional Crowd app.
Keeping people engaged
- Publish at the pace you promised. Your journey's Reading Pace tells readers how often to expect something new.
- Respond to what they share. Use View Responses to read highlights, survey answers and discussions, and let readers see their feedback land.
- Mix it up. A short discussion or survey between readings keeps the group talking.
- Use the notes. Keep your journey's Journey Notes up to date with what you'd like feedback on.
